19/07/2010 · I got AOE 3 a couple years ago and ran it on XP. But I just got a new laptop with Windows 7 and installed AOE 3. When I got to multiplayer it says "ESO does not support your game version," so went to "Update Game" under "Options" and it gave me a message that says "There was a file access problem. You have to be logged into Windows as a user with Admin rights."

So the files are in d:\steam-games\steamapps\common\age of empires 3\bin\ Right click on the file and choose properties, click Compatibility tab, make sure choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Compatibility mode and choose Run this program as an administrator.
